Should AL06 be a wake up bell?

There are many groups around the country who are trying to wake the country up.

They are doing so in different ways.

I am taking my lead from Harvard Law professor Lawrence Lessig and his Rootstrikers organization and his recently formed MayOne citizens' super PAC.

A different initiative is the Convention of States Project. Alabama appears to be an early actor in this project. See Convention of States; AL HJR49.

The Move To Amend organization is doing its thing.

In Congress, there has been introduction of The Government By The People Act.

My idea is for the 2014 elections to be a linchpin whereby the incumbent Congress is forced by the voters to agree on a grand reform plan prior to election day in November, and for the 2014 elections to be a referendum on the plan. See My national battle plan (2014).

If some persons are trying to wake the country up, there are relevant important persons who seem to want to be left asleep. These include Senators Shelby and Sessions and Representative Bachus. See Open letter to Alabama delegation in WashingtonResponse of Senator Shelby to open letter; and Representative Bachus' response.

Senators Shelby and Sessions and Representative Bachus further did not respond to this
Second open letter to Alabama delegation in Washington, pertaining to the Convention of States Project.

I and many others think it is very important for the American people to wake up and take action to address serious defects in our country's governance. Only if the American people are awakened will there be a sufficient force to bring about change. No prediction can be made about the exact form of change that will occur. The critical thing is for the American people to become aroused, and then let it play out under the country's political and Constitutional processes.

The Alabama 6th Congressional district has a chance to be a significant ringer of a wake up bell for this on June 3rd. The voters in the district need to decide whether they will ring that bell on June 3rd.
