Subject: Continuing efforts to get opinion from you re what 2nd Amendment protects and does not protect
Dear Professors Smolin, Horwitz, Brandon, Olree and Vars:
This email will be added to the emails at https://al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com/2022/10/pressuring-gov-ivey-for-leadership-on.html and will also be posted at https://al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com/2022/11/second-amendment-and-fighting-tyranny.html.
Whether you as Alabama constitutional law professors are willing to utter anything about what the Second Amendment protects and what it does not protect, for consideration by Gov. Ivey; Alabama members of Congress; Alabama legislators, city councilors, and county commissioners; and Alabama police departments and sheriff's offices, has been and continues to be up to you.
And it has been and continues up to me to push on you for you to say something.
In October I became aware of Prof. Vars' book Weapons of Choice, https://al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com/2022/10/ua-law-prof-vars-weapon-of-choice.html, and as result I have added Prof. Vars as an addressee of this email.
Persons copied on this email include members of the Alabama legal community I have previously solicited for their views on the Second Amendment, UAB professors in the public health field, Alabama university presidents, and the UAB and University of Alabama police chiefs.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Rob Shattuck

Professor Horwitz kindly replied to my below email and was open in expressing to me his disinclination to speak in a public way about the Second Amendment due to it being outside his constitutional law areas of focus.
That is understandable and acceptable.
Such is also a basis for sending this email to those who received the below email, in order to solicit recommendations of Second Amendment scholars in Alabama to whom my inquiry might be better directed than to those to whom I sent the below email.
Thank you for your indulgence.
Sincerely,
Rob Shattuck
