Subject: How will AL TV stations do on COVID relief fraud?
To Alabama TV stations:
Yesterday the Congressional GOP Oversight Committee tweeted, "For two years, Congressional Democrats turned a blind eye to what may be the greatest theft of American taxpayer dollars in history [referring to COVID relief fraud]."
Rep. Gary Palmer reweeted the Oversight Committee's tweet.
The COVID relief fraud problem is not new news for the American people, it having been reported dating back to February 2021. See How billions in pandemic aid was swindled by con artists and crime syndicates
Will Alabama TV stations demand that Rep. Palmer and other ALGOP members of Congress back up the charge that "Congressional Democrats turned a blind eye" to COVID relief fraud, which fraud "may be the greatest theft of American taxpayer dollars in history"?
Will such a demand result only in more finger pointing and be more evidence that Alabamians need to know, showing that their Congress is broken and cannot do the job it should for America?
Can Alabama TV stations do their journalistic jobs here? https://al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com/2023/01/how-will-al-tv-stations-do-on-covid.html
Thank you.

Dear Deans Agarwal, Brooks, Geisler, Goepfert, Hoesley, and Leon:
In an article 10 things lawmakers can do post-COVID to improve the lives and safety of Alabamians, Dr. Stewart Tankersley lists as the first thing that "Medical students and residents in Alabama should be required to undergo remedial training in the scientific method."
I am an Alabamian who would like to know what qualified professors and doctors at the UAB School of Medicine think about what Dr. Tankersley says in his article. Does the School of Medicine think a rebuttal to the article should be written and published?
I am delving into this at https://al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com/2023/01/dr-stewart-tankersley.html.

What should Americans do about election integrity?

[Edit 1/24: I sent the below tweet in reply to a tweet of  @cathi_bradford that included an announcement that Robert Garris would speak about "election integrity" at the January 30 Eagle Forum meeting in Cullman. I thought the announcement identified Mr. Garris as the Lee County Elections Manager. Dear Mr. Garris,
This email is prompted by your being scheduled to speak about "election integrity" at the January 30 Eagle Forum meeting in Cullman.
I think the USA made great progress in 2022 in that the 2022 election results were not doubted compared to how the 2020 election results were doubted.
As regards elections and voting, I think a priority for America and Americans should be to make the 2024 elections even more insulated against questioning.
Do you agree?
If you agree, what leader or leaders in Alabama would you identify as being highly effective in advocating for that 2024 election goal and advocating things that Alabamians can do on behalf of such goal? What do you think Alabamians should do to advance that goal.
For your information, this email and any reply you provide will be posted at https://al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com/2023/01/what-should-americans-do-about-election.html.

Just to clarify, I am no longer the Lee County Election Manager. I left that position in 2020. My tenure there was 2014 to 2020. I currently work in the Lee County Revenue Commissioner’s Office. I am happy to give my opinion, however, just to clarify, I am no longer the Election Manager in Lee County. The elections are administered by the Chief Election Official, Probate Judge Bill English.

Dear Mr. Garris,
This reply to your your January 23rd email is triggered by your being mentioned in the article at https://1819news.com/news/item/supporters-argue-for-election-audit-bill-your-vote-is-sacrosanct-and-it-has-value-to-you regarding the election audit bill.
As my previous emails stated, I think the USA made great progress in 2022 in how the 2022 election results were not doubted compared to how the 2020 election results were doubted, and that, as regards elections and voting, a priority for America and Americans should be to make the 2024 elections even more insulated against questioning.
Your January 23rd email indicated a willingness to express your opinion on this.
I think Alabama Secretary of State Allen desires for the 2024 election results to be to be subject to potential doubt, and he has done, and will do, little or nothing to lessen the potential for Alabamians to distrust the 2024 elections. https://al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com/2023/01/what-should-americans-do-about-election.html.
Do you agree a priority for America and Americans should be to make the 2024 elections even more insulated against questioning compared to the 2020 elections, and what do you think Secretary of State Allen has done and will do to help for the 2024 election results not to be doubted by Alabamians?
Thank you for your consideration of this.

Subject: Houston County Republican Women: Secretary of State Allen and election integrity
Dear President Fillmore, Houston County Republican Women (c/o alexcreynolds@gmail.com):
This email is prompted by Secretary of State Wes Allen's visit with your group this past Thursday and what he said about election integrity.
The following is quoted from https://dothaneagle.com/news/local/government-politics/secretary-of-state-wes-allen-visits-houston-county-republican-women/article_119ae7be-2cb4-11ee-8946-2b3ec7d65ce5.html, which reported Secretary Allen's visit with you:
"I heard loud and clear that the citizens of this state want elections of integrity," Allen said. "They want ones that we can depend on, so we don't see the chaos and confusion that happened around the country in 2020. Thank goodness it didn't happen in Alabama, and we're going to keep pushing so nothing can go wrong with our election system."
After Allen met with Rep. Paul Lee and other members of the Republican caucus in a legislative session, a bill was passed that made it a state law to require paper ballots for every election.
Originally, using paper ballots was an administrative code and not a state law. Allen said since it is now a state law, the ballots can be referenced in case something goes wrong on Election Night.
"This is important because now we got the receipts," Allen said. "If anyone has questions, they can go back and look at the ballots."
Another item in the administrative code had to do with the tabulators and how they didn't need to be connected to the internet. Allen wanted to make this a state law, and the bill managed to get down to the House, where it was passed and signed into law by Gov. Kay Ivey.
Allen believes these steps will help ,keep Election Night from becoming Election Month.
"We've got a great system in Alabama, and I'm very proud of it," Allen said. "You're going to know who wins and loses in Alabama on Election Night. It's not going to take us weeks to count ballots."
I think the integrity of the 2020 elections weighs heavily on the future of our country. I have tried to address this, starting at at https://al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com/2020/10/will-john-merrill-get-blamed.html
I think the U.S. made great progress in 2022 in how the 2022 election results were not doubted compared to how the 2020 election results are doubted.
As regards elections and voting, I think a priority for Americans should be to make the 2024 elections even more insulated against questioning.
In February I asked Secretary Allen: "What progress did the USA make as regards the 2022 election results not being doubted compared to the 2020 election, and what will you and @NASSorg do to help make the 2024 election results even more accepted?" See https://al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com/2023/01/what-should-americans-do-about-election.html.
The purpose of this email is to keep on this with the Houston County Republican Women and other Republican Women's groups in Alabama (some of which are copied on this email as indicated below).
Do you agree that a priority for Americans should be to make the 2024 elections insulated against questioning? Do you think Secretary of State Allen should make his own efforts to help that be the case? Are you willing to contribute to that as well by speaking up publicly on the matter?
I would like to have phone conversations and/or meetings with one or more of you about this.
Please contact me if you are willing.
Thank you very much.

ALABAMA:

In the Homewood City School System a father reported a Heritage Panel visited his son’s 10th grade classroom.  After listening to the panel his son asked if white people could be discriminated against.  The class split in half; those that said “no” and those that said “yes”.  The teacher supported the answer that whites cannot be discriminated against and told the student he was in the dominant  group. He was also informed he could go to the library during the sessions if he felt uncomfortable.  Homewood City School System and others around the state participate in a Heritage Panel that visits classrooms to discuss Social Emotional Learning. SEL overlaps with CRT. https://www.facebook.com/localalabamaorg/videos/248255580765191/?extid=NS-UNK-UNK-UNK-AN_GK0T-GK1C&ref=sharing

Jasper City Schools – the grandmother of an elementary school student reported that her grandson watched a BLM video during class time.  The teacher told her principal she didn’t think there was anything wrong with showing the video.

Mountain Brook School System trained their personnel in the tenets of Critical Race Theory using the Anti-Defamation League’s “No Place for Hate” Program – 4 elementary schools, one middle school, one high school.

The Anti-Defamation League defines racism as: “The marginalization and/or oppression of people of color based on a socially constructed racial hierarchy that privileges white people.”  https://adl.org/racism

The ADL program promotes equity (manufacturing equal outcomes) rather than equality (promoting equal opportunities).

The Heritage Foundation provides informative commentary on “No Place for Hate”: “Jonathan Haidt, a social psychologist at New York University, explains that this approach is more likely to produce anger, anxiety and hopelessness – traits that are rapidly rising among today’s youth.”

In Madison County’s  Buckhorn Middle School a mother (Sierra) reported the  7th grade Civics teacher had a poster in support of Black Lives Matter (a black first raised in the air).  The mother also reported the teacher told the class they were brainwashed because they have been saying the Pledge of Allegiance since kindergarten. Making Local Alabama Jan. 25th Hoover meeting fair and balanced

The embedding of the above tweet cuts off information that the meeting is 6 to 8 pm on January 25th at the Hoover City Hall, 100 Municipal Drive, Hoover, AL 35216.

A preview of what Pat Ellis will have to say may be provided by a December 7, 2022 Alabama Unfiltered discussion with her entitled "Educated in Alabama", which can be found at https://1819news.com/podcast/educated-in-alabama-with-pat-ellis

What I think
I live in Mountain Brook. I have no school age children or grandchildren.

I have a great deal of interest in the nationwide contentiousness regarding Critical Race Theory, etc., and what is being taught or not being taught to school children. I have expressed this previously at  https://al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com/2022/08/what-are-your-concerns-about-mtn-brook.html.

A. General
My general view is as I set out in my below August 9, 2022 tweet.
B. Other critical problems
Other critical problems for our children and their schools are listed below. These need "all hands" addressing by parents, teachers, and school boards.

C. How widespread is genuine, informed concern about CRT, etc.
D. Handling this at local level
I think this can be handled by parents, teachers and school boards at the local level.
Making meeting fair and balanced
I don't think the January 25th meeting will be fair and balanced unless pressure is brought to bear on Pat Ellis both before and during the meeting. Before the meeting, interested parties who think Pat Ellis will not be fair and balanced in what she presents should make public expression of their beliefs, including contacting local news media to be present at the meeting and ask relevant questions of Pat Ellis. Attendees at the meeting should ask Pat Ellis pointed questions.

I will start by sending an email to Pat Ellis.

Dear Mr. Shattuck, with all due respect, I'm not quite sure what your problem is with me. I do not claim to address every problem in education today. I do address Critical Race Theory, Social Emotional Learning and Comprehensive Sex Education. I am a volunteer and am alerting parents of these issues so that they can make informed decisions. My information is well-researched and factual. I have been contacted by teachers and parents and I relate their experiences. I also show videos that explain the aforementioned issues.
You stated the following in your tweet: I wish to express that I think the CRT related political controversy regarding schools, teachers & parents is a wasteful distraction from critical other problems in public education that need great attention.
I agree with you there are issues that need great attention. I would like to suggest to you that you address those issues and put together a presentation. I am sure many organizations would be happy to hear from you.
You mentioned Alabama Unfiltered. If I misspoke during the program, I would be grateful if you would let me know exactly what I said that is incorrect.
Attached below is our research on Critical Race Theory. I think the parents of children made to feel they are racist and oppressors solely because of their skin color would disagree with your opinion on Critical Race Theory in Alabama, as would most black parents who do not want their children to think of themselves as victims.
I look forward to your reply.
With kind regards,
Pat Ellis

First, you, on your own initiative, can, in your January 25th presentation, indicate that there are other critical problems in public education in Alabama that need great attention, that you do not think the changes in Alabama's schools you are seeking, and the time and resources needed to achieve those changes, will derogate from addressing such other critical problems (or perhaps that you think implementing the changes you desire will help in addressing the other problems), or that you believe that the problems for which you are seeking changes are sufficiently detrimental to our school children to warrant prioritizing those problems over the other critical problems and a lessening of attention to the other problems should be temporarily accepted in order to implement the changes you want.
Second, there are other persons much more informed and closer to the situation in Alabama schools who would be better to address the totality of both the changes you want and the other critical problems. I think it would be great if the journalists with the Alabama Education Lab who are copied on this email weighed in. The same goes for local TV reporters who cover education. Hearing from local school superintendents, school boards, teachers and parents would also be good. I will try to find interest on that front relative to the January 25th meeting.
Third, Alabama has a new United States senator, who has said education is a priority for her. I think Senator Britt should use her new found leadership standing in Alabama to call for an education summit to be held in Alabama, possibly on multiple days and in multiple locations, at which summit a variety of speakers would publicly speak on the problems confronting public education and schools and about what should be done to address those problems. If Senator Britt set up such an education summit, it would be reasonable for Eagle Forum of Alabama to be invited to participate.
I hope to continue my engagement with you on this.
Sincerely,
Rob Shattuck

Good evening, I generally have an hour to make my presentations. This is not enough time to cover all the ills in K-12. I highly recommend that you bring the issues that concern you into the public square. Also, Katie Britt has five AL offices. You may want to schedule an appointment at one of them and share your concerns with Senator Britt or her education LA.
Regards, Pat Ellis
PS - I think you'd be very surprised just how well informed I am on education issues.

Thank you, Ms. Ellis.
I think it would be useless for me to contact Senator Britt's office (as I consider it useless for me to contact, say, Rep. Gary Palmer's office, or Gov. Ivey's office or AG Marshall's office).
For more than a year, I have been contacting Alabama TV stations and other parties in Alabama who have more influence in public affairs than I (who has no influence), in order to try to get them to raise my concerns within their realms of influence and functionality.
I will continue in that mode here.
Sincerely,
Rob Shattuck

I think Governor Ivey and Senator Britt should hold a statewide "education in Alabama" summit.
What do you think?

I think the more attention given to education the better. As you may know, Alabama was trending upward until Common Core. The first order of business, in my opinion, would be to admit we have CC and that AL just changed the name.

Dear Mr. Gaston:
To reply to your request to be removed from my distribution list, I have investigated and see that you have been promoted to Senior VP by Gray Television, you are now overseeing Gray's TV stations in the south, Texas and Colorado, and Jason Mathews has been named General Manager of WBRC. I will accordingly remove you from my distribution list and put Mr. Mathews on my distribution list.
Thank you.

Subject: What will you do to get in Rep Gary Palmer's face about guns
Dear Faith in Action Birmingham Peacemakers and Moms Demand Alabama:
I have emailed you about asking the Montgomery mayoral and city council candidates at WSFA12's August 10th forum (https://www.wsfa.com/2023/08/03/wsfa-12-news-host-montgomery-candidates-forum-aug-10/ ) what the candidates will do to try to reduce gun violence in Montgomery if they win their election. (My email can be found at http://al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com/2023/08/montgomery-candidates-what-will-you-do.html.)
Last night Rep. Gary Palmer held a meet and greet in Alabaster at the city hall. https://twitter.com/USRepGaryPalmer/status/1688548437313110016.
This morning I tweeted Rep. Palmer, asking what questions were asked of him at his Alabaster meet and greet, and whether any TV reporters showed up and asked him questions. https://twitter.com/RobShattuckAL06/status/1688828236296245248
In 2019, following the El Paso and Dayton mass shootings, ABC3340's Pam Huff interviewed Rep. Palmer about what further gun regulation he supported in order to reduce gun violence. Rep. Palmer basically indicated he will not support any further gun regulation You can watch the interview at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ie6gbheR72g.
Since 2019 I have tried many times to get more questioning of Rep. Palmer about guns and questioning of others in the Alabama Congressional delegation or running for Congress about guns, all to no avail. See https://twitter.com/search?q=youtu.be%2FIe6gbheR72g%20(from%3Arobshattuckal06)&src=typed_query&f=live.
So my question to you is, will you do anything to help me get in Rep. Palmer's face about his opposition to further gun regulation?
I will add this email to https://al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com/2022/12/what-will-reduce-gun-violence.html and also add it to https://al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com/2023/01/how-much-does-gary-palmer-jerk-us-around.html.
Thank you for your attention to this email.

Subject: Will Sen. Katie Britt diss AL TV stations and reporters?
Dear Greg, Mike, Ellis, Mark, Muriel, Matt, and Olivia:
I think Alabama's Congressional delegation has for years dissed Alabama TV stations and reporters.
Ian Reitz said his exit interview with Richard Shelby was Shelby's first sit down interview with a Birmingham TV station in 6 years. Richard Shelby: The Journey Home (wvtm13.com)
If you don't think the Alabama Congressional delegation disses Alabama TV stations and reporters, please say so, and please give me a link to an interview or interviews which you think show you are not dissed. (Interviews with Gov. Ivey or other state officials can also be put forth to show you are not dissed.)
I will post any replies given to me at https://al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com/2023/01/using-twitter-to-hold-senkatiebritt.html.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Rob Shattuck
