Subject: Keeping the bullets from flying: Holding Trump legally and politically accountable
Dear Alabama Republican Party and Alabama Democratic Party:
Yesterday Trump posted on his Truth Social the following:
The Rhetoric, Lies, as exemplified by the false statements made by Comrade Kamala Harris during the rigged and highly partisan ABC Debate, and all of the ridiculous lawsuits specifically designed to inflict damage on Joe’s, then Kamala’s, Political Opponent, ME, has taken politics in our Country to a whole new level of Hatred, Abuse, and Distrust. Because of this Communist Left Rhetoric, the bullets are flying, and it will only get worse! Allowing millions of people, from places unknown, to INVADE and take over our Country, is an unpardonable sin. OUR BORDERS MUST BE CLOSED, AND THE TERRORISTS, CRIMINALS, AND MENTALLY INSANE, IMMEDIATELY REMOVED FROM AMERICAN CITIES AND TOWNS, DEPORTED BACK TO THEIR COUNTIES OF ORIGIN. WE WANT PEOPLE TO COME INTO OUR COUNTRY, BUT THEY MUST LOVE OUR NATION, AND COME IN LEGALLY AND THROUGH A SYSTEM OF MERIT. THE WORLD IS LAUGHING AT US AS FOOLS, THEY ARE STEALING OUR JOBS AND OUR WEALTH. WE CANNOT LET THEM LAUGH ANY LONGER. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/113148118321131590
I believe that Trump criminally endeavored to prevent the lawfully elected President, Joe Biden, from taking office on January 20, 2021, for which criminal endeavor Trump should be held legally and politically accountable. Please provide to Alabama TV stations that are copied on this email, statements from your political parties concerning how your political parties have (or have not) dedicated themselves to the rule of law to try to keep the bullets from flying, as Trump refers to.
I will ask the Alabama legal profession the same question in due course. See Be An Alabama Rootstriker* with Rob Shattuck: Interim Alabama report to ABA Task Force for American Democracy (al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com).

Dear Alabama lawyers,
Yesterday I sent the below email to the Alabama Republican and Democratic parties, asking them to provide to Alabama TV stations statements from their political parties concerning how their political parties have (or have not) dedicated themselves to the rule of law to try to keep the bullets from flying, as Trump refers to in his Truth Social post on Monday that is quoted in the below email.
More than a year has gone by since the American Bar Association called on lawyers to
"(i) bolster voter confidence in elections by safeguarding the integrity and non-partisan administration of elections, and by providing support for election workers and officials; (ii) educate Americans on democracy and the rule of law and why they are foundational to every aspect of American lives; and (iii) suggest ideas to the American people for improving and strengthening our democracy and our elections." https://www.americanbar.org/groups/public_interest/election_law/american-democracy//our-work/
I am copying the Alabama TV stations on this email that I copied on the below email, in the hopes that representatives of the Alabama legal profession will tell the TV stations what Alabama lawyers have done and are doing to put forth the rule of law to keep the bullets from flying.
Thanks.

Subject: UA College Democrats, Trump's Saturday visit, January 6th, and the rule of law
Dear University of Alabama College Democrats:
Five days ago, your Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/UACollegeDems said, regarding Trump's coming for Saturday's football game, "Like we did in the 2020 election, we must show to everyone that Trump is NOT WELCOME on our campus."
Your September 24th Facebook post said that, at your weekly meeting to be held that day, you would announce your response to Trump’s planned visit for the Georgia game.
I don't know what you have come up with for your response to Trump's coming on Saturday, but I offer the following for your consideration:
I have been trying to message in Alabama that Trump needs to be held legally and politically accountable for January 6th, and I have thought Trump's coming Saturday visit was opportune for my messaging objective. Be An Alabama Rootstriker* with Rob Shattuck: Trump should be held accountable legally and politically (al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com)
Last December, in connection with the Republican Presidential debate in Tuscaloosa, I importuned a number of University of Alabama persons to undertake and promote the holding of conversations in line with the mission of a newly created American Bar Association Task Force for American Democracy, which mission included hosting "public conversations with a broad spectrum of Americans to hear their concerns, experiences, and suggestions for restoring and preserving our democracy rule of law." Be An Alabama Rootstriker* with Rob Shattuck: Presidential debate in Tuscaloosa & ABA Democracy Task Force conversation event (al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com).
At this time, I am very keen for Alabamians to have many conversations during the next 40 days about January 6th and "preserving our democracy rule of law."
If the University of Alabama College Democrats are similarly keen for Alabamians to have such conversations, I hope you can do something to promote the same in connection with Trump's Saturday visit.
Keep in mind how Trump Republican toadies such as Tommy Tuberville, Katie Britt, Gary Palmer, Steve Marshall, John Wahl and Wes Allen are focused on how they can best prostrate themselves before their orange Sun King on Saturday, and such Trump Republican toadies positively do not want conversations about January 6th and the rule of law.
For what it's worth, I am copying on this email University of Alabama persons whom I emailed in December.
Power to the people and the rule of law!
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Rob Shattuck

Subject: University of Alabama institutional neutrality and Trump's campaign use of Bryant-Denny Stadium
Dear The University of Alabama System Interim Chancellor Trant:
I think it is a fair assessment that Donald Trump will be using Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday for his campaign purposes.
The article University of Alabama System Board adopts neutrality resolution on ‘political and social issues’ (1819news.com) says:
The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees adopted a resolution last week expressing its commitment to institutional neutrality and freedom of speech and expression.
A university spokesperson said that the UA System will remain neutral on political and social issues unless the issue directly affects core operations.
According to the UA System, it is "dedicated to safeguarding free speech, academic freedom and the educational experience of its students."
According to a statement from the UA system, the Board's formalization of the "UA System's longstanding practice of maintaining institutional neutrality will ensure its three universities continue to serve as welcoming environments to all people and neutral forums for scholarly debate and free and open inquiry. "
Given the national television audience for the football game at Bryant-Denny Stadium, and other factors, I think the University of Alabama needs to take steps to demonstrate its institutional neutrality as regards Trump's use of Bryant-Denny Stadium in his Presidential election campaign.
I think the University should put out a press release to the effect that the University does not endorse either candidate in the Presidential election, and the University's accommodation of Trump's attendance at the football game is not an endorsement of Trump by the University.
At the game, the foregoing press release should be read over the Bryant-Denny Stadium public address system.
Such press release should be given to the broadcaster of the football game and to their game announcers, and the broadcaster's game announcers should be requested to read the press release as part of their broadcasting of the game.
Additionally, I think the game broadcaster should be requested not to show Trump in its game coverage. Whether or not the broadcaster complies with the foregoing request, I think the stadium jumbotron should cut away if and whenever the broadcaster shows Trump in their broadcasting.
I am not knowledgeable about what constitutes in-kind contributions to a political candidate, but you may want to consider whether anything in the University's accommodation to Trump's use of Bryant-Denny Stadium constitutes an in-kind contribution to candidate Trump.
While I am an outsider to the University of Alabama, please know that I have been seeking to avail of Trump's coming to Tuscaloosa in order to instigate campus conversations about Trump, January 6th and the rule of law. My efforts in this regard are indicated at Be An Alabama Rootstriker* with Rob Shattuck: Trump should be held accountable legally and politically (al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com)

Subject: RE: [EXTERNAL] University of Alabama institutional neutrality and Trump's campaign use of Bryant-Denny Stadium
Good morning Rob:
Thank you for contacting The University of Alabama. Your e-mail was forwarded to me and I wanted to make sure that you received a response. We have been notified that President Trump plans to attend the Alabama-Georgia football game after receiving an invitation from a private citizen. UAPD will work closely with the Secret Service and other law enforcement partners to coordinate security, which remains our top priority. Additional security measures will be enacted for game day, so fans are encouraged to arrive early to expedite the security screening process.
The University has a historic commitment to institutional neutrality, and our focus will continue to be on ensuring a safe and positive gameday experience for the student-athletes, fans of both teams, and all campus visitors.
Thank you and Roll Tide!

I would say Elon Musk is on his way to becoming drunk on power, based on observing his performance at Trump's rally in Butler PA this past Saturday. Elon Musk at Trump rally in Butler, PA: FULL SPEECH (youtube.com)

How does the Alabama business community feel about Elon Musk becoming Trump's national economic czar? Will he and Trump scheme for the government to monetarily benefit themselves and their businesses, reward politicians and businesses who show sufficient loyalty, and punish those who aren't subservient?
