https://www.sos.alabama.gov/sites/default/files/election-2024/Independent-Candiate-Info.pdf is "2024 Independent Candidate Ballot Access" information promulgated by the Alabama Secretary of State.
Further I will make inquiry about possible mechanics for the filing of signed ballot access petitions. Possibly signed paper petitions will ultimately be required to be filed. If that is the case, I will inquire about coupling the filing of paper petitions on or before March 5th with an online uploading of signed paper petitions to a public webpage or a private webpage that can be viewed by myself and the Secretary of State, in order to monitor how many petitions are getting signed.

Dear _____,
Yesterday I informed ____ about Be An Alabama Rootstriker* with Rob Shattuck: My Wishes and Horses Campaign (al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com).
In seeking ballot access petition signatures, I am targeting groups in Alabama that have political issues as to which they are on the opposite side from the Republicans in Alabama, and that would appreciate public pushback on their issue against Rep. Gary Palmer in the 6th Congressional district.
I think K-12 education is one such issue, as to which the Republicans are hepped up about school choice, eradicating DEI, preventing Marxist indoctrination, and banning books, as the means for improving the education of Alabama children. I think such is political hogwash that will do little or nothing to address serious problems that impair K-12 education in Alabama, such as failures of discipline in the schools, the destructive effect of cellphones in schools, and student truancy.
Those problems may have little applicability to Mountain Brook schools, and you likely have a better sense than I about problems that need fixing in K-12 education in Alabama, and whether the Republicans are offering anything that can be helpful for improving education in Alabama. My limited views, for what they are worth, are publicly indicated at Be An Alabama Rootstriker* with Rob Shattuck: What are your concerns about Mtn. Brook AL schools? (al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com), and you can make what you want of them.
I only ask whether you feel I am a person whom you would like to see getting into it publicly with Rep. Gary Palmer. If you do, I want to ask whether you are willing to sign my ballot access petition to enable me to do that.
If this is something you prefer not to be involved with, I will understand. Again, please feel no obligation to reply here.
Sincerely,
Rob Shattuck

I don't know if you are Linda, so I won't do a salutation here.
I also don't know how much you would like to see me on the ballot in the 6th Congressional district as an Independent candidate who would try to go very hard against Rep. Palmer regarding women's healthcare and reproductive rights.
What I need at this juncture are people who look at what I am doing and consider it sufficiently meritorious that they are willing to try for it.
That you have to decide for yourself.
If you decide, yes, I want to try for it, start with your email contacts. Are you willing to email such contacts and, in your own words, convey "I strongly believe in what this guy is doing, and I think you should too."
I obviously believe in what I am doing. I think others should believe in it. If others don't believe in it, that's ok and I will not hold it against them.
One way or the other, the foregoing that I describe is what I need at this juncturein order to get on the ballot, and, if the foregoing does not happen, I will not get on the ballot.
Thank you very much for your attention to this email.
Sincerely,
Rob

Thank you, Stewart.
My ongoing posting on Be An Alabama Rootstriker* with Rob Shattuck: Letter to AL State Public Health Committee (al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com) seeks the objective of the Alabama state government, Alabama public health authorities, and the Alabama public having a reasonable consensus about the COVID19 pandemic response and about future pandemic responses.
I have expressed great dubiousness about such a reasonable consensus happening and am trying to call this to public attention. Being an Independent candidate in the AL 6th Congressional district would, I think, help advance doing that.
I don't know who of the many addressees on my emails (including yourself) agrees with my foregoing objective. Those who do and live in the AL 6th Congressional district can obviously help me out. Those who don't live in the 6th Congressional district could help as well by referring this to people they know who live in the 6th Congressional district.
I very much appreciate your replying to my emails, because the other addressees basically don't.

Dear University of Alabama History Department Chair Rothman,

I am trying to tell that truth, per Be An Alabama Rootstriker* with Rob Shattuck: My Wishes and Horses Campaign (al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com) and Be An Alabama Rootstriker* with Rob Shattuck: Similarities and differences between Hitler and Trump (al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com).
I have emailed the chairs of the History Departments of UAB, Samford, and the University of Montevallo, urging those History Departments to find ways to tell the truth about Trump to their university communities and to other local communities the History Departments are able to reach.
While the University of Alabama is not in the 6th Congressional district, I urge your History Department to do similarly as the UAB, Samford and the University of Montevallo History Departments.
As impetus for you, please consider how well the truth about Trump was told or not told in the December GOP presidential debate at the University Alabama.
It was reported that an "all-star cast of legislators, government and corporate executives, university administrators, major party donors and industry association chiefs alongside the crowd of GOP officials and national political influencers" attended the debate.
Following the debate, I engaged in a fruitless effort to try to get Alabama Republicans who were part of that "all-star cast" to answer the question: "Did Donald Trump engage in insurrection on Jan. 6th?" See Be An Alabama Rootstriker* with Rob Shattuck: Did Donald Trump engage in insurrection on Jan. 6th? (al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com).
Maybe the University of Alabama History Department has the clout to get Alabama Republicans to answer the foregoing question.

Subject: New York City real estate industry mores and the Office of President of United States
Dear Greater Birmingham Young Republicans:
I am writing to you about Trump's problem of having carried the mores of the New York real estate industry over to the office of the President of the United States, which problem is coming into glaring public view in connection with the New York civil fraud trial.
First, let me quote three items of reporting about the civil fraud trial:
1. Trump ordered to pay $354m in New York fraud case (msn.com)To summarize, the civil fraud trial is bringing glaringly to the public's attention that the mores of the New York City real estate industry are not laudable; for decades Donald Trump swam very well in that environment and engaged in lying deceit and dishonesty that everyone in the industry knew about; Trump was able to parlay his lying, dishonesty and deceit into fortune and fame in New York City and nationally; and Trump today is unable to acknowledge that there was anything wrong with his lying, deceit and dishonesty in his forty years as a real estate operator.
Former President Donald Trump must pay nearly $355m (£281m) to New York state for lying about the values of his properties, a judge has ruled.
Trump said "A crooked New York state judge just ruled I have to pay a fine for $350m for having built a perfect company," calling the ruling a political witch hunt."
2. Trump Bankers Testify They Did Not Rely on Him When Assessing Net Worth - The New York Times (nytimes.com) (from November)
"Bankers whom Donald J. Trump is accused of defrauding testified at his civil fraud trial this week that they did not rely on his embellished claims of wealth, lending support to the central plank of the former president’s defense."
The New York attorney general, Letitia James, sued Mr. Trump in 2022 for inflating his net worth on his annual financial statements to receive favorable loans from banks, notably including Deutsche Bank. Before the trial, the judge found that the statements were filled with examples of fraud; the trial will determine any consequences the former president may face.
Mr. Trump has protested the premise of the case, insisting that the banks did their own due diligence and that misstatements in the financial documents would not have affected the overall terms of the loans. It follows, his lawyers have argued, that the alleged fraud had no victim.
3. Judge: Trump Org defendants’ ‘complete’ lack of contrition ‘borders on pathological’ (msn.com)
Toward the end of his 92-page ruling, Engoron cited the defendants’ refusal to admit to any error.
“After some four years of investigation and litigation, the only error (‘inadvertent,’ of course) that they acknowledge is the tripling of the size of the Trump Tower Penthouse, which cannot be gainsaid. Their complete lack of contrition and remorse borders on pathological,” he continued in his decision. “They are accused only of inflating asset values to make more money. The documents prove this over and over again.”
“This is a venial sin, not a mortal sin. Defendants did not commit murder or arson. They did not rob a bank at gunpoint. Donald Trump is not Bernard Madoff,” he wrote. “Yet, defendants are incapable of admitting the error of their ways. Instead, they adopt a ‘See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil’ posture that the evidence belies.”
With this increased public awareness of Trump's lying, deceit and dishonesty as a real estate operator, I believe it will start to seep into the public's mind that Trump carried the mores and his mentality as a real estate operator over to the office of the President of the United States, and he continued in the Presidency with lying, deceitfulness and dishonesty on a par with his lying, deceitfulness and dishonesty as a New York City real estate operator.
Further, just as with Trump's New York City real estate mentality that he built a "perfect company" notwithstanding his egregious lying, deceitfulness and dishonesty, the public's attention will be called to Trump's pathological inability to admit publicly the lying, deceit and dishonesty he practiced as a real estate operator, and Trump now pathologically cannot acknowledge that he has been anything less than perfect in all respects in his Presidency, and that such pathology is dangerous for the country when it is present in the President.
The questions is: will Trump's base be able to ignore what is now glaring in their face from the civil fraud case.
Maybe so. But maybe not.
Track through your own thought processes about this by answering this series of questions according to what you think:
1. What are the mores of the New York real estate industry as regards lying, deceit and dishonesty?
2, As a New York city operator for 40 years, has Trump been, in the relative scheme of things, a particularly ethical operator? A middle of the road operator in his ethics? Or a notably, if not grossly, unethical real estate operator as regards lying, deceit and dishonesty?
3. Did Trump carry over to the office of the President of the United States his New York real estate mentality and unethical practices that resulted in Trump engaging in lying, deceitfulness and dishonesty as President on a par with real estate operator Trump?
4. In your own life and work, what are your ethical standards? What do you expect and get from others as to their ethical standards.
5. As to New York banks doing due diligence to protect themselves from Trump's lying, deceit, and dishonesty, how much due diligence is there available to the American public to protect itself against Trump's lying, deceitfulness and dishonesty as President of the United States?
7. Do you find it acceptable or unacceptable for real estate operator Trump's lying, deceit and dishonesty to be carried over to the office of the President of the United States, particularly taking into account whether the American public has any protection of due diligence the way New York banks had due diligence to protect themselves from Trump's lying, deceitfulness and dishonesty?
8. In answering question 7, please particularly consider the danger of Trump' pathology not to be able to acknowledge that he has been anything less than perfect in all respects in his Presidency.
I look forward to any response you would care to give to this email.
Thank you.

Subject: Me as Independent candidate in 6th Cong'l district in addition to Elizabeth Anderson
Dear Birmingham Young Democrats:
I wish to make a case for your considering my being an Independent candidate in the 6th Congressional district against Rep. Gary Palmer, in addition to the Democratic candidate Elizabeth Anderson.
In February 2020, I wrote in my blog the following:
For more than 4 years I have been putting forth argumentation against Rep. Palmer regarding several issues. I have received zero in reply from Rep. Palmer and I have been unable to get public attention to my argumentation that would pressure Rep. Palmer to respond.
If I got on the ballot as an Independent candidate in the 2020 6th Congressional district election, I believe Rep. Palmer would be forced to reply to me. Be An Alabama Rootstriker* with Rob Shattuck: 31 days until March 3rd (al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com)Since February 2020 I have done assiduous blogging, tweeting, and emailing that has brought me to this point of trying to get on the ballot as an Independent candidate against Rep. Gary Palmer again in 2024, per Be An Alabama Rootstriker* with Rob Shattuck: My Wishes and Horses Campaign (al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com).
This time I additonally say in the preceding link:
Given the miserable state of our nation's politics, and its building titanic clash in 2024 over installing Donald Trump as America's Dictator or bringing him down once and for all, I think my Wishes and Horses Campaign is very meritorious from a good citizen, civics perspective and trying to contribute to a salvaging of said miserable state of our politics.
I have three main points for you to consider.
First, I think, if you review my blog, you will conclude that I will be a forceful candidate if I get on the ballot as an Independent candidate in the 6th Congressional district.
Second, I will be forceful on the same side as Elizabeth Anderson and against Gary Palmer on most, if not all, the issues that are important to you and Elizabeth. (If you spot ways that I part company from you and Elizabeth, please call them to my attention.)
Third, I will be forceful in trying to overcome locally the extreme polarization in the country and in trying to bridge the partisan divide. In support of that, I refer you to (i) Be An Alabama Rootstriker* with Rob Shattuck: Can the two sides talk? (al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com); (ii) Be An Alabama Rootstriker* with Rob Shattuck: Joint town hall script (al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com); (iii) Be An Alabama Rootstriker* with Rob Shattuck: Braver Angels Birmingham Alliance (al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com): and (iv) Be An Alabama Rootstriker* with Rob Shattuck: Come ye Trumpers and anti-Trumpers (al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com).
To conclude, I think there are reasons for Birmingham Young Democrats to desire me on the ballot in the 6th Congressional district as well as Elizabeth Anderson as the Democratic candidate, and I hope some Birmingham Young Democrats will sign my ballot access petition for me to get on the ballot.
Thank you very much.
Sincerely,

Subject: Your History Departments, Trump truth, and problem of NYC real estate operator as POTUS
Dear Professors Hartog, Hultquist, Wiesen and Rothman:
This email is in follow up to previous emails I sent urging your respective History Departments to find ways to tell the truth about Donald Trump to your university communities and to other local communities your Departments are able to reach.
I think the $355,000,000 civil fraud penalty imposed on Trump has brought glaringly to the fore the problem of New York City real estate operator Trump carrying over to the office of President of United States Trump's longtime practices of lying, deceit and dishonesty in the New York real estate industry.
Therre are two aggravated aspects of the problem.
First, unlike New York banks that had due diligence protocols to protect themselves from real estate operator Trump's lying, deceit and dishonesty, the American public does not have a comparable due diligence protocol to protect itself from a President Trump's lying, deceit and dishonesty.
Second, there is a difference between a real estate operator who pathologically says nothing he ever did was wrong and a President who pathologically says that nothing he ever did was wrong. To wit, the societal harm that such a pathological real estate operator can cause is very small, compared to the enormous national harm that such a pathological President can cause.
As my previous emails to you indicated, I am literally campaigning in the Alabama 6th Congressional district to push into the public's awareness the truth about Trump, including the problem of New York City real estate operator Trump carrying over to the office of President of United States his longtime practices of lying, deceit and dishonesty in the New York real estate industry.
To that end, I am copying Alabama TV stations on this email, as I have done previously.
Thank you.

Subject: Re: Wilkins, McFeeters challenge Palmer in Congressional District 6 forum
Thank you, Jon.
I would like to pick up on your having "to remain neutral in political matters and opinions."
There is first the "neutrality" of your individual personal biases and interests not affecting your reporting of political matters or your expressing opinions about candidates and political issues.
There is also whether journalistic "neutrality" can be compromised by corporate media owners' commercial interests affecting their political news reporting or affecting their editorializing about candidates and political issues.
Question: How can Birmingham TV stations be neutral in fulfilling their journalistic obligations when they are receiving thousands of dollars to run Gary Palmer's ads touting himself as having the complete backing of Donald Trump? I think Alabama TV stations have been compromised by the revenues they receive for running political ads, and I have written this up in my blog entry Be An Alabama Rootstriker* with Rob Shattuck: Local TV stations, journalism ethics and political ads (al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com)
I also think Alabama TV viewers need help in reaching conclusions about candidates and political issues, and I have written about this as well in Be An Alabama Rootstriker* with Rob Shattuck: AL TV viewers need help reaching their conclusions (al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com).
Last October, I solicited retired Alabama TV personages Janet Hall, Don Dailey and Rick Karle to use their retirement freedom to push for Alabama TV stations to better perform their journalistic obligations, per Be An Alabama Rootstriker* with Rob Shattuck: Can retired AL TV news personages help improve AL TV news journalism? (al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com).
Janet Hall and Scott Richards, who recently died suddenly, were longtime colleague at WBRC, and I would like to suggest that a way for Janet and WBRC to honor Scott Richards would be for them to take up things I say In the above links.
In addition to my above contacting of Alabama TV stations, currently I am trying to inform ABC3340, CBS42, WVTM13 and WBRC of my efforts to get on the ballot in the 6th Congressional district. I do not know whether they are paying any attention. WVUA23 in Tuscaloosa showed an interest in my coming to talk with their editorial board, but, Tuscaloosa not being in the 6th Congressional district, I have not taken up WVUA23 on the suggestion. Also, Mike Wright of WAAY TV in Huntsville has twice said to me he would like to meet up with me when he comes to Birmingham.
I am copying the foregoing TV stations on this email for whatever effect it may have regarding the foregoing matters.

Subject: Blatant political solicitation of the UAB School of Public Health
Dear Dean Erwin:
You are Dean of the UAB School of Public Health and Professor in Health Care Organization and Policy.
Since 2017 I have been campaigning in a political way regarding public health related polices and laws.
In 2017 I involved myself regarding the American Health Care Act, which would have partially repealed the Affordable Care Act (American Health Care Act of 2017 - Wikipedia). This started with my writing to the then Chair of the Health Care Organization and Policy department the email that is set forth in Be An Alabama Rootstriker* with Rob Shattuck: Does politics make us idiots (al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com).
Ever since 2017 Trump and the Republicans have had a goal of repealing the Affordable Care Act, and this is continuing in the 2024 elections, per How Trump might change health policy in the U.S. if he wins again : Shots - Health News : NPR.
Other public health related policies and laws about which I have been campaigning in a political way are:
1. Gun violence (my campaigning is indicated at Be An Alabama Rootstriker* with Rob Shattuck: Draft statement to Birmingham City Council re gun control laws (al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com)
2. Women's health and reproductive rights (my campaigning is indicated at Be An Alabama Rootstriker* with Rob Shattuck: Let's talk abortion (al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com))
3. Pandemic response (my campaigning is indicated at Be An Alabama Rootstriker* with Rob Shattuck: Letter to AL State Public Health Committee (al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com))
In my campaigning I have sent many emails to UAB professors, others in the UAB community, and non-UAB parties who have a public health involvement.
I am currently trying to get on the ballot as an Independent candidate against Rep. Gary Palmer in the Alabama 6th Congressional district, per Be An Alabama Rootstriker* with Rob Shattuck: My Wishes and Horses Campaign (al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com).
If I get on the ballot, I intend to campaign strenuously against Rep. Palmer about the foregoing public health related policies and laws and other matters.
To get on the ballot I need to get ballot access petitions signed.
I am sending this email to you, with copies to UAB professors, others in the UAB community, and non-UAB parties whom I have previously emailed, in order to solicit their signing of ballot access petitions for me and/or their contacting others to sign ballot access petitions.
Thank you and those whom I have copied on this email for whatever consideration you and they are able to give to this blatant political solicitation.

Subject: ATTN chambers of commerce: Problem of NYC real estate operator as POTUS
Dear Birmingham chambers of commerce:
As Rep. Gary Palmer's many daily TV ads obsessively tout his Trump endorsed candidacy in the 6th Congressional district, I would like to call to the attention of the your chambers of commerce how the $355,000,000 civil fraud penalty imposed on Trump has brought glaringly to the fore the problem of New York City real estate operator Trump carrying over to the office of President of United States Trump's longtime practices of lying, deceit and dishonesty in the New York real estate industry.

I believe that Birmingham chambers of commerce, compared to the general public, are better attuned to how unethical Trump has been in his life and how egregious has been his four decades of lying, deceit and dishonesty as a New York state real estate operator; how Trump carried over to the office of President of the United States and continues in his campaign his decades long practices of lying, deceit and dishonesty; how vulnerable the American public is to Trump's lying, deceit and dishonesty without the public having the protection of due diligence protocols as New York banks have; and the danger of Trump's pathological need to say that nothing he did or does as President is anything less than perfect in all respects and his pathological need not to be presented with any questioning of what he says.
Thank you for your attention to this email.

I am seeking to get on the ballot as an Independent candidate against Rep. Gary Palmer in the Alabama 6th Congressional district, per Be An Alabama Rootstriker* with Rob Shattuck: My Wishes and Horses Campaign (al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com)
You can start to get a sense of where I stand on DEI by reading Be An Alabama Rootstriker* with Rob Shattuck: Explanation of just about everything in U.S. politics today (al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com).
For me, overarching DEI is the extreme polarization in America, which I am trying hard to lessen. See (i) Be An Alabama Rootstriker* with Rob Shattuck: Can the two sides talk?
