In 2022 elections, perhaps Alabama Supreme Court candidate @GregoryCook will, in his campaign, be an agency on behalf of respect & trust for Alabama institutions.https://t.co/GHSP8jBVsZ#alpolitics https://t.co/ngnPIaExBZ via @YouTube

I consider Alabama universities to be "institutions" that should want respect & trust & that Alabamians should want to respect & trust. I am trying to engage with universities with that in mind. https://t.co/YNZwgANZTt is most recent example.https://t.co/GHSP8jBVsZ#alpolitics

Health care in AL is an "institution" that should want respect & trust & that Alabamians should want to respect & trust. In pandemic, Ivey, Marshall & @ALGOP wrongfully impaired health care & health care respect & trust.https://t.co/28fJRBtupMhttps://t.co/GHSP8jBVsZ#alpolitics

Subject: What does Sen. Britt think about 2024 being "the final battle"?
To: Birmingham Business Alliance
I believe Sen. Britt spoke to the Birmingham Business Alliance when she was in Birmingham a week ago.
I don't know what she said to the Alliance.
On Saturday in Waco, Trump pronounced that the 2024 election will be "the final battle." https://www.dallasnews.com/news/politics/2023/03/25/trump-kicks-off-campaign-in-waco-calling-2024-race-the-final-battle/
I would like to think that Alabamians could be interested in what Sen. Britt thinks about that. https://al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com/2023/03/where-were-our-bham-peeps-during-sen.html
I beseech the Alliance to use its contacts with Sen. Britt to ask her to issue a public statement about her belief relative to the 2024 election being "the final battle," as Trump has pronounced.

Subject: Alabama State Bar and weaponization of justice system
Dear chairs of Leadership Forum Selection & Program Committee, Bench & Bar Relations Committee, Government Relations Liaison Committee, and Lawyer Public Relations Task Force:
I am an inactive member of the Alabama bar.
Our country is being dangerously buffeted by charges and counter charges of weaponization of the justice system. This is increasing the polarization in the country, and, in this buffeting and polarization, I think it is fair to say there are forces seeking to capsize the ship of state.
In the situation, the citizens badly need leaders and institutions whom they can trust and respect.
Such institutions and leaders, however, seem hard for citizens to find.
While the Alabama State Bar is only a small "institution," I think it should consider whether it should try to be an "institution" in Alabama to whom Alabamians can listen with respect and trust related to how Alabamians respond to the "weaponization of the justice system" charges and counter charges that are buffeting the country and threatening to capsize the ship of state.
Maybe one or more of your committees and task force will undertake considering this, decide there is something the Alabama State Bar can do in the situation, and proceed to do it.
Thank you for your attention to this email.
Sincerely,
Rob Shattuck

Subject: AUM April 8th roundtable on "#alpolitics and journalism"
To addressee Alabama journalism and communications professors
On Monday, Professor David Alan Hughes tweeted that Auburn University at Montgomery is hosting the 2023 Southern Studies Conference April 7-8, and there will be a roundtable on #alpolitics and journalism on April 8th at 3:00 pm in the Liberal Arts Tech-Wing, 210, in which Todd Stacey, Erin Davis, Lee Hedgepeth and Carolyn Hutcheson will participate.
I tweeted back to Professor Hughes, saying that for months I have been complaining about Alabama TV stations failing to fulfill their journalistic obligations to their viewers (linking https://al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com/2022/11/local-tv-journalism-ethics- html and https://al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com/2023/02/opening-new-front-against-al-tv-stations.html), and that I would avail of the April 8th roundtable to do more harping on this.
Acknowledging that I am a lay person with no professional or academic credentials in the fields of journalism or communications, I consider it unsatisfactory that Alabama TV stations do not see fit to respond in any way to my complaining that they are failing to fulfill their journalistic obligations to their viewers.
I have drawn into my complaining Alabama professors in the fields of journalism and communication, because their academic departments are educating students who will work for Alabama TV stations, and it is legitimate for me to let those academic departments know about my complaints.
Accordingly, to do more harping on this subject, I am sending this email to the addressee professors and am copying the TV stations on this email, as well as Professor Hughes, Todd Stacey, Erin Davis, Lee Hedgepeth (via Twitter) and Carolyn Hutcheson.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Rob Shattuck
