Can @auhulsey lessen my despair in Alabama? https://t.co/1GEssLYE4C

While I am not a constituent of Leigh's, I will submit some questions to her, see if she answers, and evaluate what I learn from same.https://t.co/Ia2xNsh0zP#alpolitics https://t.co/lh7wao7UQt
One of the questions I want to ask @auhulsey is whether she thinks Gov. Ivey was morally depraved in her opposition to vaccine mandates. https://t.co/Ia2xNsh0zP#alpolitics https://t.co/GhKQTjMfN0

Also I want to ask @auhulsey whether she will work for common sense gun solutions in Alabama in the dyad of the "right to self-defense" and "protect[ing] public safety".https://t.co/Ia2xNrZpbf@FrankyDemands @DrEllenEaton @judith_rogers #alpolitics https://t.co/s3ZF7xmGQa

Subject: Your thoughtful Capitol Journal appearance
Dear Rep. Hulsey,
I don't know the extent to which Alabama legislators are thoughtful (like you) or are thoughtless.
I am writing this email to engage your possible thoughtfulness on subjects that have my interest and that have a connection to interests you have shown or that I otherwise want to put in front of you.
First, related to your clergy sex crime law, I have a generalized interest in the law as a societal mechanism for punishing and deterring wrongdoing by members of the society and for compensating victims of wrongdoers. If you think you have such a generalized interest, please read Be An Alabama Rootstriker* with Rob Shattuck: Larry Nassar and AAG election (al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com) and let me know if you would like to talk about the subject.
Second, I noted your May 3 Facebook post about local state media outlets. While your post carved out TV news, I am trying to push Alabama TV to do a better job in the 2024 elections, as per Be An Alabama Rootstriker* with Rob Shattuck: Getting AL TV stations to do better in 2024 elections (al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com). If you think this is a meritorious endeavor on my part, I would love to talk with you about the same. (One of the commenters on your Facebook post lauded Jon Anderson, with whom I have previously communicated on this subject, and I availing of that to copy Jon on this email. Also I have been trying to bug Todd Stacy about this, so I am copying him as well.)
Third, I think you are probably a strong supporter of the Second Amendment. I believe stricter gun laws can make the public and law enforcement safer and at the same time accommodate the Second Amendment right to own and carry handguns for self-defense. I have an ongoing effort to advance towards that goal, as per Be An Alabama Rootstriker* with Rob Shattuck: Draft statement to Birmingham City Council re gun control laws (al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com). I hope what I say in the foregoing link may engage your thoughtfulness on this subject. (Rep. Ensler seems to be taking the lead in the Alabama House of Representatives for stricter gun laws in Alabama, and I am copying him on this email for that reason.
Here is to hoping many Alabama legislators are as thoughtful as you.
Sincerely,
Rob Shattuck
Mountain Brook
